1 lb. of macaroni (or your favorite short pasta)
1 and 1/2 cups of 15% cream
1/2 lb. of diced ham
1/2 lb. of Gruyère cheese
1 egg
3 tablespoons butter
Nutmeg
Salt, pepper
In your favorite pasta boiling pot, boil the pasta up until it is al dente.
Follow package instructions but keep in mind that they often suggest too much
boiling time.
Dice the ham to small cubes;
Grate all the Gruyère cheese.
Melt the butter;
In a large bowl, whisk the cream and the butter with the egg.
Season with salt, pepper and a teaspoon of nutmeg.
Pour this cream mixture in a pot, heat it up under medium heat.
Gradually add to the cream mixture the grated Gruyère cheese; keep under the heat until the cheese is completely melted.
Mix in the ham pieces; mix again until the ham pieces are well coated in the Gruyère sauce;
pour in the pasta; mix gently to coat all the pasta.
Serve to your happy crowd! Bon appétit...
